“All are Welcome” inclusion campaign launches

America has had a tragic history of discrimination. Businesses have displayed infamous signs banning people due to sexuality, race, religion, and more. With many lives lost and tears shed, this display of bigotry has hurt countless people. These hateful ideas have tarnished the nation—and it’s time to show the world those are principles of the past.

Today, the LGBTQ Community Network has launched a new badge for for businesses, non-profits, government agencies and other public spaces to show their commitment to inclusion and diversity. The emblem represents the acceptance of people regardless of culture, sexuality, or identity. Individuals can also nominate a business to join the campaign.

The new stickers are designed to help businesses demonstrate a respect for all customers visiting their locations, that they strive to build an inclusive and welcoming environment.

“The idea of being able to tell people where they can find businesses and public spaces that are willing to say they’re inclusive and welcoming to the LGBTQ population has been desperately needed,” said Jason Scott, Executive Director of LGBT Community Network.

Rather than a rainbow flag during the month of June, businesses, non-profit organizations, government agencies and other public spaces now have the opportunity to to show their public support for LGBTQ+ persons, year-round.

“Seeing a Pride flag displayed outside of a business is a message to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning individuals that they are welcome and safe to be their authentic selves.” said Shrey Raju

After months of planning and hard work, a final design was decided upon, with over 70% of voters choosing this new symbol of inclusion. The launch furthers the mission of LGBT Community Network in supporting the queer community.

Members commit to serve any customer who walks through their door without discriminating because of race, religion, culture, sexual orientation or gender identity. It is designed primarily as a window decal for an entry door or shop window.

“Like with large corporations that donate to anti-LGBTQ organizations or those that support anti-LGBTQ legislation, we would rather not put our money into a business that wishes to see our rights taken away.” said Tracy Bohren.

“It gets exhausting asking for support,” Scott said. “When a business makes an effort, it causes a ripple effect of good that sets a standard for how people could behave or change their perspective. It makes us feel safe to be our authentic selves in these spaces.”

“The idea of being able to tell people where they can find safe spaces as well as celebrating the businesses that are willing to say they’re inclusive and welcoming to the LGBTQ population is a great thing,” said Scott.

While they welcome donations, the All are Welcome Campaign is free to join. The process is fast, easy, and free! A kit and resources arrive in a few days. By joining the All Are Welcome Campaign, you can show that we are leaving discrimination in the past.
